This Rattlesnake Point Adventure Engagement was Epic! We felt like we were on top of the world that evening. We took this Seattle adventure engagement session from a nice walk on the beach, to a picnic by the lake and finally hiking up all the way to the top of the Rattlesnake ridge where the blue of the lake sitting by the emerald green of the mountains, offered us some breathtaking views as a backdrop.

4.5 Hours later, a 1:15 hrs hike up the mountain carrying lighting equipment, 45 minute record hike down the trail, 2 wet cold t-shirts, 3 outfits and one warning parking ticket for being late leaving the park, we had ended this session with some epic engagement photos! Because that’s how we do it!

They met online. Avid hikers, Eivind, a software engineer, and Elyse, a physician, both share the love of the PNW’s outdoors, backpacking and nature, which brought them together. Their first date was at a rock climbing gym, where Elyse came prepared, as she has visited the gym a day before and learnt how to tie the knots correctly. When Eivind emailed me and told me this, I could ‘hear’ him giggle and the proud tone he was typing with. :)) Their second date could not have been less than an adventure, so they went hiking up Bandera mountain in Washington! When they went to Norway last year, where Eivind grew up, they did a four night backpacking trip in an amazing national park, which turned out to be another epic experience.

“Eivind is an ironman and avid snowboarder, and I love how he’s such an active person, as well as incredibly thoughtful, kind, and generous to others.” says Elyse.

“I find Elyse to be fun and adventurous, and she is never afraid to try something new.”, says Eivind, who loves Elyse’s spirit of adventure. “She has helped me find balance in my life. Despite of being from two different countries, we do share a lot of common beliefs, like strong family values, feminism and science.”

Eivind popped the question at home just after Elyse had come back from the gym one evening. He had laid out a string of lights in their backyard that spelled out “Will you marry me?”, and proposed in front of the window.

They are hoping to have a beautiful summer ceremony on the water with as many of their close friends and family as can make it. Both are so happy that many of Eivind’s family members from Norway and many of Elyse’s family and friends who are spread out all over the country, are able to come!
