Looking back to my early career, I have never thought I was going to be where I’m at today. My love for photography has increased over the years along with my confidence as a photographer. Talent and confidence go hand in hand, I truly believe that. I think that if you are good at something but you don’t have the courage to show the world what you’re really made out of and what you have to offer, then your success might never show its face.
I moved to Seattle about a year and a half ago, I knew no-one here and I had no-one’s helping hand extended to me. All I knew was that I came to one of the best cities in the US, a place with so much opportunity and I was ready to become one of the best wedding photographers Seattle had seen! Wait, I don’t mean to sound cocky, I have a lot of work to do, and it will take some time to prove that, but I’m working hard at it and I hope that in the near future, I can look back and smile at my accomplishment. To me, that’s the most important thing.
When I got to Washington, my plans were not really defined as to where I would start, and how I would integrate myself as a wedding photographer in the local crowd, but my logic side took over and uncovered a path that I knew I should be taking. I started meeting people both on social media and places I frequented a lot. I networked, attended events, took friends for lunches and coffee, I threw bunch of parties and helped many friends in need with an open heart. I love people, and most of all, I love being surrounded by positive energy and laughter. Of course, that’s not always what I get, but I did my best to overcame a lot of the ‘not-so-great’ moments with confidence and an optimistic approach to life. Connecting and reaching out helped both my wedding business, as well as my personal life quite a lot.
It’s one thing for people to hear about you and learn about your work, but when you reach out to them on another level and let some of your vulnerability show through, it touches them in a different way. They need to see that you are this amazing person underneath it all, and make them distinguish you from the rest. They need to see that what you have to offer is unique. I think we should alway strive to give the people we connect with something that not everyone can give offer them. Being talented in not enough, you need to be remembered!
Monday is here, time to get back to work!
