IDoSodo Wedding Show – 2017

2017 is looking bright so far, as it has already brought some pretty cool events in the Seattle wedding industry. Right after Weddings in Woodinville, where eight wedding venues opened their doors to future marrying couples, a month later, Sodo, the industrial area of Seattle, has shown its chic and elegant side, participating in the IdoSodo wedding event that took place on February Twelve, 2017. Lucky number 8 I say, because another eight local wedding venues brought out their best and got pampered up by some of the best creative wedding planners, to welcome the Seattle engaged couples that are tying the knot soon. Here is each of the locations, photos and info, put together by your very best Seattle wedding photographer and blogger – moi. 🙂

The Diamond club at Safeco Field

My thoughts: This location was pretty cool. If you are a Mariners fan and you want a one-of-a-kind experience and want to impress, the Diamond Club is for you! Easy to access and plenty of parking, your guests will not be disappointed. One piece of advice: Don’t touch the grass!!! I rate this venue 2 out of 5 based on how well it photographed, use of space, light and feel.

From the venue: Think outside the box for your rehearsal dinner, welcome reception or bachelor party at The Diamond Club at Safeco Field! Take advantage of great views from home plate and access to the Interview Room. With a standing reception capacity of 250 and seating for 170 The Diamond Club is sure to score a home run with your guests.

Sodo Park

My thoughts: Sodo Park was one of my favorite venues. It was the second one on the route and easy to get to. Not sure about parking, as we were dropped off, but the place was really nice – very spacious and well organized. Looks like this venue can host a big wedding with no problem, very elegant and open. The bridal suite was really large as well. I rate this venue 5 out of 5.

From the Venue: Sodo Park – DISTINCTIVE. INDUSTRIAL. CHIC. Named one of America’s 22 coolest places to get married, the award winning Sodo Park event venue is located in the heart of Seattle’s historic SoDo district just minutes from downtown Seattle. This one-of-a-kind, full service venue is an open and airy space that blends historical significance with modern day elegance for an ambient charm that can be dressed up or down for any event. Housed in a repurposed century-old factory, Sodo Park’s urban loft design features vaulted ceilings, exposed beams and millwork, reclaimed lighting, and a distinctive warm fusion of contemporary and rustic accents running throughout.

Within Sodo

My thoughts: Another favorite, WithinSodo had a lot to offer, as you’ll see below. My favorite – the rooftop – had nice view to downtown Seattle and the Starbucks building in Sodo. I’m super excited to photograph Amy & Clint’s wedding this year at this venue, I know I’m going to love being upstairs in the evening time taking in the view and put those string lights to good use. I rate this venue 4 out of 5.

From the Venue: WithinSodo is a beautifully-renovated warehouse in the SoDo District of Seattle with 4 event spaces: The Lounge, The Ballroom, The Gallery & The Rooftop Deck. These 4 spaces when combined include an incredible rooftop covered deck with a spectacular view of downtown, a full commercial / catering kitchen, an A/V System with HD projector, 16-foot screen & 5.1 Surround Sound, a PA, 2 full bar areas, 2 restrooms, a VIP / green room / bridal suite, Wi-Fi, 2 iPod docks, & ample free parking.

When WithinSodo was conceived nearly 4 years ago, the Sodo building had previously existed as a metal shop, an industrial equipment sales location, and a warehouse for furniture storage. Its bones were strong, the space open, and the character authentic. Highlighting the natural materials and creating a “function through form” design was the goal. The addition of a rooftop deck and kitchen / bar facilities brings an entirely new level of versatility and something unique to the SoDo neighborhood.

Perfect for wedding ceremonies & receptions, auctions, corporate meetings, catered events, fashion & art shows, dinners, outdoor BBQs, sports-related events, Quinceañeras, automotive functions, photo shoots, & private parties. Available as one large event space or can be divided. Has a capacity to hold 500 in an event setting; can hold about 200 for a wedding event.

Metropolist

From Me: Right in between SodoPark and WithinSodo, Metropolist is a 5,500 sq ft classical industrial event space that is super accomodating for any type of event. I loved the feel of it, and the open space. You can do SO MUCH here as far as planning, as it is fully customizable. I rate this venue 4 out of 5.

From the Venue: First and foremost, we are entrepreneurs and real estate agents who see an opportunity to change the landscape of business as we know it.

We saw a real and tangible need for a new and integrated approach to business- crafting exceptional real estate experiences for our clients, offering entrepreneurs access to resources for idea generation and execution, and developing a culture of celebration and connection.

The Foundry

From Me: The reception room was absolutely stunning, and the whole venue was nice and airy. Lots of design ideas went through my mind as I was strolling the place, and it would definitely be one of my first picks if I were getting married. Such a beautiful Seattle wedding venue! I rate this venue 5 out of 5.

From the Venue: The Foundry by Herban Feast HISTORIC. CONTEMPORARY. DISTINCT. The Foundry by Herban Feast complements its sister venue, the celebrated Sodo Park. Named in homage to its origin as a copper and steel manufacturing and fabrication plant, The Foundry is an award-winning, distinguished event space where historic meets contemporary. The venue features a unique, customizable layout with distinct spaces that can be used separately for intimate get-togethers of 25, progressive-style events, off-site meetings with break-out sessions, or together for seated gatherings and celebrations for 200 and up to 500 cocktail style.

Kerloo Cellars

From Me: I had no idea there was a wine cellar in Sodo! Nice little place, not very roomy but definitely has a lot of character. All the texture inside was very original and there are tons of opportunities for photography. If your Seattle wedding is on the intimate side, this might be just the place for you. I rate this venue 4 out of 5.

From the Venue: This Sodo venue is a fully-functioning winery, tasting room, and event space located in the heart of Seattle. The urban, chic space is sure to make your next celebration, wedding, or corporate soirée enjoyable and memorable. Guests will have access to a beautiful open space with available parking on hand. Inside Kerloo is the main tasting room and in the back the winery production area. The combined indoor spaces can easily accommodate up to 200 people for a stand up reception or 130 people for a seated dinner event. A floor to ceiling garage door fully opens allowing overflow into the parking lot. All Kerloo private events include glassware along with a Kerloo wine specialist to tend to your guests. There is a minimum Kerloo Cellars wine purchase depending on the number of people attending. Kerloo Cellars captures a sumptuous atmosphere with friendly staff to insure your event is a success.

Westland Distillery

From Me: “Thoughtfully Made” is the Westland Distillery’s Slogan, and rightfully so… Again, this Seattle wedding venue is not very spacious either, but I feel that you can do a lot with it. As you walk in you are welcome by a clean open space that works perfectly for the cocktail hour, as there are 2 bars and plenty of seating. As you enter the back space, the feel changes and looks more like a cellar. The photos below will definitely clarify what I’m talking about. I rate this Sodo wedding venue as a 3 out of 5.

From the Venue: As the nation’s largest single malt whiskey distillery, Westland offers one of the premier event experiences in the Seattle area. The distillery’s mix of rustic, old-world architecture and impressive industrial design makes it a unique and memorable venue for your guests. Located in the SoDo district of downtown Seattle, the 13,000-square-foot space boasts 40-foot ceilings, exposed original wood beams and large open spaces. A large Tasting Room and Bar serve as the perfect space for cocktail hour and reception, while the attached Cask Room is a stunning setting for ceremony, and dining. A third room—the Billiard Loft—is ideal for smaller groups, and available for use during reception as an additional bar space with a speakeasy feel.

Specific capacity varies depending on the style and layout of event. For formal seated events, the space can accommodate 140 seated maximum. For social, standing, receptions as many as 300 guests can be accommodated. The Billiard Loft is suitable for up to 20 guests. The Tasting Room and Bar measure a combined 2,200 sq. ft. The Cask Room measures 1,650 sq. ft. The Billiard Loft measures 510 sq. ft.

Canvas

From Me: And finally Canvas – the last but not least Sodo venue. It definitely came a long way since it was used as a crane station, now turned into a modern spacious event location. I was impressed with how roomy it was and it definitely photographed well inside. Very contemporary and artsy. I rate this venue 4 out of 5.

From the Venue: From the moment you see Canvas, you know you’re in for an experience that defies expectation. What once was an old crane repair station, and then an art gallery, is now a celebration of history, industry and art.

Modern lines. Douglas fir ceilings. Open floor plan.

The first work of art at Canvas is the building itself. The building dates to the mid-’50s, when it served as an old crane repair workshop and warehouse, known as, Western Bridge. Through the rest of the century the warehouse served a range of industrial businesses. At the beginning of the 21st century the building was renovated to serve as the site of a contemporary art space which named itself after the building’s original tenant.

This beautifully designed structure has been thoughtfully reimagined as a unique event venue in Seattle. Over 10,000 square feet of versatile space can be configured to suit any need from an intimate gathering that moves through several small spaces to a grand statement that utilizes the sheer volume of the place. Whether throwing a party for 10 or 400, Canvas allows you to mold the space into whatever you may dream of.

It is breathtaking in possibility and an icon of individuality. There is no other venue quite like Canvas. Now available for receptions, ceremonies, rehearsal dinners, engagement parties, showers, fundraisers and other unforgettable events.

Canvas has an upscale catering kitchen, a brand new A/V System with HD Projector, surround sound, ipod dock, Wi-Fi, Bride and Groom suites, and enough free parking for all your guests. Above all else, Canvas is the home of unique, modern and historical art, which allows your event, whatever it may be, to be truly unique.
Our goal is to make your dream event a reality.
